Orto invisibile è una raccolta di nove incisioni ad acquaforte di Federico Guerri che raffigurano altrettante piante immaginarie coltivate all’ombra di una fantasticazione libera e rigorosa, tratto distintivo dell’opera di Federico ed elemento di forte affinità con il mio approccio al testo.
Su suo invito, ho dato a queste piante un nome fornendole di una breve descrizione delle loro proprietà. L’effetto è quello di una parodia surreale di un classico erbario seicentesco, in cui eleganti quanto improbabili spiriti vegetali rivelano abitudini e funzioni maldestre, disadattive, stizzose e immodificabili, in una parola, umane.
La nostra collaborazione ha preso la duplice forma di un libro e di un set di stampe calcografiche.
Le stampe sono state realizzate a partire dalle incisioni originali da Giampiero Guerri, nel suo laboratorio tipografico di Cesena (Stamperia d’arte Guerri), con la tradizionale lavorazione calcografica e tipografica con «torchio a braccia».
Il libro, che rappresenta un’agile raccolta dell’intero erbario, si conclude con una breve appendice etimologica sulla classificazione delle piante e sugli oscuri percorsi della loro nominazione.

Orto invisibile is a collection of nine etchings by Federico Guerri that depict as many imaginary plants grown in the shadow of a free and rigorous fantasy, distinctive feature of the work of Frederick and element of strong affinity with my approach to the text.
At her invitation, I gave these plants a name giving her a brief description of their properties. The effect is that of a surreal parody of a classic seventeenth-century herbarium, in which elegant and improbable vegetable spirits reveal awkward habits and functions, disadaptive, angry and unchangeable, in a word, human.
Our collaboration took the dual form of a book and a set of engravings.
The prints were made from the original engravings by Giampiero Guerri, in his printing workshop in Cesena (Stamperia d'arte Guerri), with the traditional engraving and printing with «arm press».
The book, which represents an agile collection of the entire herbarium, ends with a short etymological appendix on the classification of plants and the dark paths of their naming.
